To demonstrate that flexibility pmdtechnologies introduced the CamBoard pico flexx in May 2015: The CamBoard pico flexx is flexible in terms of range, framerate and operation system. In order to make this flexibility manageable we also introduced a new light-weight framework for Time-of-Flight cameras: Royale. Royale provides a SW package which encapsulates camera data access, camera configuration, interface management, depth data processing and API. Royale is completely cross-platform capable: The same source code and GUI can be used on, Android, MacOS, Windows and Ubuntu The cayim forum has successfully served as forum for developers, who use the CamBoard pico S, CamBoard nano and CamCube with the pmdsdk. But since the API has changed now we don´t want to mix up things so we decided to discontinue this cayim forum as it is. Royale and the CamBoard pico flexx will be supported via our new blog on www.pmdtec.com/picoflexx and direct email support.   8. Longer working ranges, more flexible framerates, Android support, MacOS support, reduced depth noise. Siegen, Germany, 12th May 2015. Almost 10 months ago, pmdtechnologies released the CamBoard pico S. It has been an amazing journey and among other things pmd is very happy and proud about the attention and interest researchers and developers from various fields have dedicated to the CamBoard pico S. The Time-of-Flight developer forum cayim.com is a vivid example for the sophisticated ways in which depth sensing can be used. In the meanwhile, pmd has listened carefully to the wishes of people, who have worked with the CamBoard pico S. Requests for longer ranges, more flexible framerates, reduced depth noise, Android support, MacOS support, integrability into mobile devices etc. have been received frequently regarding the CamBoard pico S. As such, pmd is happy to announce that there will be a new member of the CamBoard pico family available very soon: The CamBoard pico flexx.   13. Goodbye CamBoard nano. Welcome CamBoard picoS! In 2012 the CamBoard nano was introduced as the smallest 3D camera reference design available worldwide. Based on the pmd PhotonICs® 19k-S3 imager the CamBoard nano was the first module publicly available with this small form factor, aiming at applications like close-range gesture control and more. Over 600 developers working with the CamBoard nano are registered to the online developer forum cayim (can you image) to date and the module went pretty famous in some awesome projects: Disney Research´s Aerial , NASA´s Valkyrie, NASA´s Robonaut and more. CamBoard nano discontinued – Last orders! Of course we are continuously working on further improvements of our chip technology and our reference designs. Due to this it is unavoidable that after some time our reference designs are discontinued. We herewith announce the discontinuation of the CamBoard nano, meaning it can be ordered until sold out but will not be available anymore after that. The CamBoard nano will be available approximately until end of September 2014. Order a CamBoard nano. CamBoard picoS – A new era begins. With the announcement of the Infineon 3D Image Sensor Chip Family, developed jointly by pmdtechnologies and Infineon, we introduced a new reference design some months ago: The CamBoard picoS. Based on the Infineon IRS 1010C chip the CamBoard picoS has gained a lot of attention (CamBoard picoS @Computex 2013, CamBoard pico @ TechCrunch) but has not been publicly available until now. With the discontinuation of its predecessor we now are finally offering the CamBoard picoS as a camera reference design on a larger scale. Nimble UX – build gesture applications with great user experience The CamBoard picoS comes in a nice housing and even smaller form factor than the CamBoard nano. It will be offered as a nimble UX developer kit, including a nimble pmd middleware. nimble pmd gesture middleware tracks the position and orientation of a user’s hands as well as the individual finger joints and fingertips and is therefore a powerful tool to create touchless user interfaces. Windows. Linux. Mac OS. We´ve been asked a lot to support MacOS with our reference designs. We are happy to announce that MAC OS support is now available for the CamBoard picoS.
